A 30 minute drive from the city lies the stunning Wildflower Gardens, where children can discover all the joys of nature play. A selection of short and longer bush walks (some pram-friendly) and easy parking lead to a multitude of picnic and play grounds. Lambert's clearing is a large grassy area with covered picnic tables, play equipment, toilets, fern house, dedicated wildflower garden and plentiful bush themed activities. Children can build teepees (or add to the ones kids from holiday programs have created!), dig for worms, hunt for brush turkey nests, find bugs and insects galore or even spot a wallaby! While we were there we listened in on a insect expert giving a group of school kids a tour of the gardens and explaining how brush turkeys find a mate and build their nests. Absolutely full of open-ended activities to do with your kids and encourage them to get back to nature.
