This is one of my favourite places to stop on the drive down from Brisbane to NSW. Just south of Tweed in the Qld/NSW border -- but somehow I never remember to pack swimmers.

But it doesn't matter, because this beach has too many other things to do besides swim!

- watch turtles and whales at the headland
- hide out in the shady scrub in eye-view and earshot of the beautiful white sand and glistening aqua waters
- climb the rocks and enjoy the sweeping views across the Coral Sea

It's a fantastic way to recharge after hours stuck in the car. After you've stretched your body, filled your ears with the white noise of the ocean, and filled your lungs with the fresh salt air, your mood can remains elevated for the remainder of the trip. It even calms the kids, and who can say no to that?
