Mount Macedon is only a short drive from the city and is a great place for a short day trip. You can bring a picnic lunch, or visit the Top of the Range Tea Rooms, located near the Memorial Cross. There are great views from the Memorial Cross, and also from the Camel's Hump, which is the highest part of the mountain. At the right time of year, you may see snow on the mountain, and at any time of year it is a few degrees cooler once you get up near the top. Car parking is located right next to the tea rooms, and the Memorial Cross is a very short, easy walk from there. Getting to the Camel’s Hump is a relatively easy hike, but does involve some trail walking and stairs. It can be very muddy after rain or with melting snow. There are a couple of different car parks along the main road where you can access the walking track, so it is worth checking the signage at these to gauge the walking distance to the Camel’s Hump from your location
