Goulburn is sometimes called the “Rose Capital” of NSW and if the CBD's Belmore Park is anything to go by this is a town that takes its flowers seriously.
The rosebushes here stand in proudly pruned rows, neatly arranged in garden beds quilted with thick mulch. Not to be outdone in other seasons, there is a constant display of colourful flowers throughout the year including a riot of pansies in Winter and glowing feature beds full of poppies in the Spring.
This is a great park to take children. The children’s playground is near the Sloane St entrance and has covered facilities, great for shade in the Summer or to protect from drizzle all year around.
The park also features a tall multi tiered Italianate fountain, a glass house conservatory, and lots of park benches and picnic tables for outdoor eating. If you’re not in the mood for a picnic you can catch a bite at the nearby Rose Café, Park Café or The Collective, and if you visit in the Summer, come past on a Friday evening and you'll hear the local bagpipe band rehearsing.
