Across the road from the railway line on Sloane St lies a row of historic buildings. Here you will find an art gallery, antique shop and offices, and a gracious hotel, filled with antiques and charm.

For me this place has everything I love about Goulburn – history, atmosphere, affordable food and drinks and a down to earth spirit.

Frequented by railway workers for its low cost food and drinks, the Southern Railway Hotel has a dimly lit public bar, a cosy dining room, and cheerful beer garden with antique furniture and landscaped gardens.

Generous daily dinner specials start at $10, and include burgers, steak, fish and chips, and schnitzel and there is also an a la carte menu with bistro items. For the weary traveller there is also accommodation starting at just $60 per night, up a handsome wooden staircase lit by a brilliant stained glass window.
