Last school holidays we had been cooped up in the house for most of the day, and we all needed some fresh air and to stretch our legs. Fortunately, just down the road from our house is the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary. Having only recently moved to Bli Bli we had never been there before, so we decided to check it out. We were rewarded with a delightful boardwalk through the rainforest and mangroves to the Maroochydore River. We could see Mt Coolum in the distance as the sun began to set. During summer mozzies would be an issue, but since it was winter we didn't have to worry. The walk took 20 minutes each way, as we were trying to spot creatures for a scavenger hunt game as we walked. There are a couple of little side tracks to explore along the way if you have a bit longer to enjoy the sanctuary.
