The best way to spend a Friday Night in winter is at one of the many hidden bars in Sydney. Prohibition may be long gone, but the extravagance and secretive spirit of the 1920s is still thriving..
A crowd favourite is the Baxter Inn. It is easily accessible from Wynyard Station but you need a keen eye to find it (off the beaten path down a little drive way). You might also need to be willing to wait in line. The last time I went there was a line stretching from the door through the loading dock and almost back onto Clarence St.
The best part is the freshly squeezed juice that the crafty bartenders juice on the spot to accompany the many whiskies on offer..
Some other fan faves are: Stitch Bar, Palmer & Co and Shady Pines.
