Pack your bag for a day out at One Mile Beach in Port Stephens. The beach itself is a beautiful stretch of sand where you can swim in the designated swimming area, with life guards patrolling the beach during the day to keep you safe. Ensure that you pack towels, sunscreen and water to keep you hydrated, although there is a small cafe just before the entrance to the beach where you can grab a bite to eat or something to drink throughout the day (they also have live music during the busier months). The best part about this beach is the rolling sand dunes that are located right along the beach, creating a barrier between the road and all else inland and the beach itself. Go for a walk up the dunes, to see the beach from a beautiful new perspective and enjoy running and boogie boarding down the dunes, racing your friends if you are feeling competitive or simply just take in the views. The sunset is particularly beautiful when looking back towards the dunes from the beach - the colours were spectacular!
