This is a special local paddling spot which is easy to access and safe for children, accompanied by adults. To locate this shallow part of the river you enter the Bushy Park Showground and head left. The river runs along the boundary of the showground and is sheltered by the big trees along the bank. The riverbed is made of small rocks and silt; the rocks sometimes slippery, so things or old shoes are handy to get stable footing. You can choose to paddle in a bigger, deeper hole or just sit and let the river flow around you. Being a Showground, the grounds are mostly kept maintained, so the banks are also ideal for a picnic or BBQ after your swim.
