Located near Christchurch’s City Centre within Hagley Park, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens are surrounded on the eastern side by the Neo-Gothic buildings of Christ’s College, the Arts Centre and Canterbury Museum. The Gardens were constructed in 1850 along with the founding of the city of Christchurch.

The Gardens is home to the illustrious Peacock Fountain, a variety of exotic and tropical plants set in the impressive Cunningham Glasshouse and an elegant bridge arching over the Avon River, leading to a picturesque Band Rotunda.

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens have no admission fee and are open 7 days a week.
