As a cow cheese lover I have always been mildly sceptical about sheep cheese although generally go with an "I'll try anything twice" mentality to life. If heading out Wonthaggi way take a detour to Moyarra Valley and give it a go.
Set at the foothills of a stunning country landscape you can head to Prom Country Cheese to try a tasting plate ($10) of the sheep cheese that is made on site.
While at the property depending on the time of the year you can view cheese making, shearing, milking and lambing.
My friend and I were lucky enough to be there when the lambs were and snapped ourselves some super cute lamb selfies.
We also opted to get the ploughman's platter which was $30 and more than enough for the two of us. It was interesting trying all the different sheep cheeses - some which we loved and others we didn't. Maybe it is still a bit of an acquired taste for the stronger tasting ones but a good and unique experience either way.
