Ferrari World is a theme park located in Abu Dhabi, based on the luxury Italian sports car brand- Ferrari. It is an award winning park with state of the art attractions, including roller coasters, family rides, interactive game shows, simulators, the Ferrari gallery of innovative and classic cars, Ferrari go-kart racing, shows and tutorials, and even the ability to drive a Ferrari around the island! Plenty to keep you entertained for hours! The park is great for either a family experience or adult visitors, with plenty of genuinely exciting, catered attractions to target both groups.
For those seeking a thrill, the Formula Rossa rollercoaster, is the fastest rollercoaster in the world (reaching 240km/h in just 5 seconds!) and is definitely a must-do. But, if you're prone to motion-sickness, trust me, you don't want to try this one- I learned this the hard way! The force of the coaster is intense, and the speed is like nothing I'd ever experienced before- if you're in to coasters or are an adrenaline junkie, I don't think you'll be disappointed. There's also the "Flying Aces" rollercoaster, which boasts another record, possessing the highest coaster loop in the world (52m). This one gets up to 120km/h and attempts to mimic the movements and feelings of flying in a small plane. It has some seriously spectacular drops, inclines and loops and is 100% not for the faint of heart!
If you'd rather keep your feet flat on the ground, I'd say there will be a lot at the park you'll be missing out on, but definitely would recommend the Karting Academy. The track is 290 metres long, and it really is a lot of fun to feel like a race car driver and compete with friends and strangers for the best lap-time.
For the kids, there's a great "Grand Prix" karting track, while the whole family can join in on the Tyre Twist and the new interactive "Benno's Great Race" ride.
There are height restrictions in place for several of the rides, so if you're a shorty like me, or are bringing along young ones, I recommend checking these before you come along. The restrictions for each ride can be found on the Ferrari World website. Lines can get quite long for some of the more popular rides (particularly the roller coasters), and though I don't recall being stuck for too long, it is best to arrive to the park earlier in the day to allow yourself enough time to make the most of it, and maybe avoid some crowds. Further, some rides, like the Karting Academy, have timed tickets, so it's best to arrive early and book your tickets ASAP for these rides in order to avoid disappointment.
There are also an impressive range of food options for dining at the theme park, covering a variety of cuisines, and ranging from the quick fix to award winning Italian restaurants. The park also has a range of facilities including stroller rentals, prayer rooms, smoking areas, lockers and baby changing and feeding facilities.
Tickets range from AED 275 for an adult or AED 230 for juniors (or children under 3yrs free). These tickets allow unlimited access to all rides (bar certain simulators), but more expensive tickets can be purchased allowing fast tracked access to certain rides. (More details can be seen on the website).
The park is open seven days a week from 11am- 8pm. There is a free shuttle service to the park for those on Yas Island, or the park is accessible from Abu Dhabi by car (with plenty of parking on site), or taxi.
