After living in and around Box Hill for 4 years I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never be able to find a good sushi place. Somewhere that puts care into both the flavour and presentation of your meal. Don’t get me wrong, the regular sushi shop chains aren’t that bad, but it often tastes less fresh and quite cold from sitting in display cases all day. But fear not, inside Box Hill Central the hub of all things Chinese, there is a brand new sushi train – a rare thing of beauty – serving fresh and delicious sushi and other Japanese fare. While I am a stickler for the traditional raw fish variety, there are many different combinations of seafood and meat. There’s also a menu for hot items ranging from miso soup, takoyaki and agedashi tofu. I also love that it’s a sushi train, I know it may seem slightly kitsch to have your food flying past you the whole evening, but it’s a great way to see what’s on offer.
