Newtown is renowned for is great diversity. Walk the down king street starting from the Princess Highway to discover the multicultural dimension of Australia. Along this long stripe you will find anything and everything. There are antique stores, retro dress stores, modern home decor, book stores, music stores and even a nursery!
For many years, Newtown was known as the capital of Thai cuisine, but if you talk the scroll down King street, you will encouter food from many other cultures. There are Vietnamese restaurants, Lebanese food, Italian cuisine, Japanese Teppanyki and many other tenderlising foods up for offer.
As you walk along the street, you will notice the vast amoutn of graffiti artwork. The most famouse would be the I have a Dream wall located half way up the street. This is also where the local markets are held.
