When exploring Sydney Olympic Park I found The Brickpit, a former industrial site that is also home to the rare and endangered green and golden bell frogs. It’s actually the frogs that stopped the brick pit from being turned into a tennis stadium for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. You can listen out for them as your walk this spectacular 550 metre ring. It’s a super tall as well, it’s around 18 metres high and it’s a great place to take the kids and educate them on the local history of the old brick pit where for over 100 years, clay and stone were removed to make bricks. The walkway has historical notes along it so you can read as you walk and take your time to explore this very cool and interesting place in the middle of Homebush.
