Williamtown is one of my favourite picks when it comes to beaches in the summer. It isn't so pack-jammed as St Kilda, and the waters are much more calm and the gardens before you reach the white sand is perfect for picnics. If you didn't come with a picnic basket jammed with ham and cheese sandwiches, the local streets are abundant with restaurants, (a lot of Italian restaurants!) The most interesting thing about Williamstown is that the dining experience offers a sense of nostalgia, as the d├ęcor and architecture of these places are that of Victorian aesthetics.
