If you’re not interested in paying to be surrounded by adolescents then a great alternative is the Burnley Bouldering Walls. Situated near Mary Street in Richmond, the bouldering walls consist of several walls to master the art of climbing. They can also be accessed from the Capital City Trail that runs along the Yarra River. Despite being low in height the walls can be quite challenging and courses are changed bi-yearly. The walls aren’t too busy and usually only a few people will be there at a time. Hanging out under a bridge may sound like it’d be filled with trolls however fellow climbers always seem to be friendly and willing to offer helpful tips to newcomers. Although the area can be accessed by the public 24/7 I’d recommend visiting in the daylight as the area is not well lit.
