I am glad someone told me about this nightly occurrence, otherwise I would have been scared by the bright flames shooting up from the promenade! Every night the Crown put on a gas fire show on the Yarra Promenade - just outside of the Crown complex. You can grab a drink at a nearby patio to watch, or just sit on the promenade and wait for the show to start. Right now it start at 6pm, and in summer it starts at 8 - going off every hour on the hour. It is a cool sight to see for free! I asked a Crown worker and he said they rarely cancel due to bad weather conditions.
