Forget tour buses or being cramped inside a car. Get on a pair of wheels and see the real Yarra Valley through rolling country roads alongside vineyards all to yourself. Take the train from anywhere in Melbourne with your bikes onboard to Lilydale station. You could follow one of the set cycle routes, or you could explore the region on your own scenic path. My advice is go off the usual trail and cycle to the beautiful Medhurst Wines for a platter of cold meats, cheese and a wine tasting. Follow that up with a ride to Soumah through stunning bushland and be treated with more wine and panoramic views of colourful vineyards, especially in autumn.
