You're not an Aussie if you haven't got a tan! If you want to have one, surfing and leisurely walking at Crowdy Head beach are the best things to do. The beach is within the Crowdy Head National Park, 19kms north of Taree within the Greater Taree Council. We go here on Saturdays to enjoy a morning picnic, have our dogs run crazy, and soak under the sun. You can go here anytime of the year to do whale and dolphin watching on top of the Crowdy Head lookout where the Lighthouse is. Make sure to bring your binoculars with you so can get a better view. You can also see plenty of wildlife if you choose to take a short walk along the Crowdy Gap walking track going to Crowdy beach which is ideal for kids and nature lovers. And they're free! :) Tips when you go here: make sure to put some sunscreen on and bring some snack and drinks with you as it can get humid during the middle of the day even on winter time. You can get some fish and chips at the nearby F&C shop at the Crowdy Head Surfers Club building. You can even get some from a number of shops found in Harrington 5 minutes before heading to Crowdy Head beach. A new public toilet facility was also recently built beside the Surf Life Savers Club building.
