The first time I discovered this little hideaway part of the State Library of NSW, I nearly had a fit due to my high level of excitement. Peering in through the large windows from above, I felt as though I had been drawn into an old time movie featuring lush old homes with books from floor to ceiling. Because that is EXACTLY what this room looks like.

This is FREE to enter, so you can do so at your will. Sit back and read a book from the shelf, or one you have taken in! Hide out for some quiet time while you study or just browse the internet on your laptop. Do what I do sometimes and just sit back and take in your surrounds.

The State Library - New South Wales is really close to Martin Place and practically next door to the Sydney Eye Hospital. There is the Domain behind it where you can go for a stroll or lay in the grass after your wonderful reading experience.

The State Library also offers free exhibitions all year round (photography, art, etc.), and also has a cafe and a gift shop.

If you are in and around the city and feel like a bit of an escape, pop on in and enjoy the serenity!
