Not far from Broken Hill is Kinchega National Park. It's a lovely stop on the way to the small town of Menindee in the Australian Outback.
The drive to Kinchega from Broken Hill is a great opportunity to spot emu's (just make sure you watch to see if they plan to run onto the road as they seem to like to do that).
Here you will be able to gaze at the Darling River and also have a walk round and inside the old woodshed and other ruins left over from the outback sheep station which once stood in the area.
The area will look different depending if you see it in times of drought or not but it's always interesting so if you're a local make sure you visit it different times of the year.
It only costs $8 entry.
I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch.
