A bit of a unique one - take a stroll through the historic South Brisbane Cemetery between Park Road train station and the river, just opposite UQ. Established in 1860, it covers 46 picturesque acres and contains thousands of beautiful gravestones and monuments.

Vistors beware, though - this cemetery is also reputed to be one of the most haunted places in Australia! Prisoners executed at Boggo Road Gaol are known to be buried here, among many others. Brisbane Ghost Tours runs a two-hour guided walk on Saturday nights for $30 a person, giving you the low-down on who's who (and where) and the dramatic circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, you're at least guaranteed a peaceful and picturesque walk, and a very interesting encounter with the legacy of Brisbane's earlier residents.
