When you think of Auburn, you usually don't think of Japan. Tucked away in suburban streets is a lush green garden with a twist.
Waterfalls, cherry blossoms and Koi ponds fill up the Japanese garden and really are the highlight of the park. There is a zen garden, a moon gate, a traditional tea house and bridges that will make you feel like you really are in Japan.
Then you pass a peacock on the way to the rain forest and sunken garden and you realise you have the best of all worlds here.
There is even an Aviary across from the gardens filled with native and exotic birds. This is truly a special place and such an affordable way to entertain a family. If you life in Auburn then it's FREE and only $4 if you are a visitor or $5 during Cherry Blossom season (August - September).
Pack a picnic and make a day of it!
