Sadly The Island bar shut up shop on the 28/2/2016 so is no longer at cockatoo island for your thirsty souls. The page is being kept as a record. The island was a great bar and we here at thingdoer are looking forward to what the team comes up with next.
The Island Bar is located on Cockatoo Island, right in Sydney Harbour, a short ferry ride from Circular Quay or some other ferry stops. Just beyond the entrance, walk straight ahead, pass the small cafe and it's on the left.
Magnificent views, deck chairs, and funky music - a great place to sit and relax and enjoy the view back over Sydney. You may even see your office from there, yet feel a million miles away from it!
There is a full bar service, with a decent wine, beer and cider list. Food has an Italian influence, with antipasto platters and pizzas being the order of the day. A really great place to chill out with some friends.
The decor is rustic and nautical.
It gets quite packed on weekends, particularly in the warmer months, so its good to get there early and get a good spot if going for lunch. But the party continues into the night.
It's recommended to call and check their opening hours, as this can be sporadic due to seasonality, inclement weather, or private functions.
