Mount Cootha Botanical Gardens are a perfect little getaway for couples, young families and oldies alike. This little sanctuary is hidden just off the highway, but there are signs that will lead you there (just be sure to turn off on time or else you’ll land on the highway heading to Ipswich). Oh and entrance is free, so just pack your loved ones and a picnic. There’s a beautiful cafe at the very entrance, and a planetarium if that’s up your alley, and of course lots of gardens to explore. The Japanese Garden, Fern House and Green House are my absolute favourite areas to explore, and the lake is the perfect spot for a picnic! If I could live here I would, it is the most peaceful and beautiful garden in Brisbane! And up the road is the Mount Cootha lookout, a popular spot for anyone who wants to see beautiful Brisbane city from above!
