Gold Coast is definitely one of the must-go-to places in Queensland; starting from its beautiful beaches down to the fun and thrilling attractions like Movie World and Sea World alike. Although, one of the most thrilling yearly on-going attraction in Gold Coast would be the Fright Nights at Warner Bros. Movie World!
The first time I visited Fright Nights was with my friends for my 19th birthday. I often do things impulsively so when I decide on going, I immediately booked a place for us to stay at for the night; just so they don't have to drive back down to Brisbane in the middle of the night.
The apartment that I got was called Surfers Aquarius and I really liked the place. It was cozy and nice, with a beach view right in front of our room. There were 2 bedrooms, one of them en-suite, another separate bathroom, a nice kitchen with a wide open living room. The room also had a veranda where you could just enjoy the sunrise or sunset view from the beach. The rates were fairly good and affordable so I would definitely recommend you stay at this apartment.
The night of the Fright Night, we traveled to Movieworld by buses which were provided by Translink specifically for the Fright Night event. For the Fright Night, you had to buy tickets prior to arrival - or at least that what I did, just to avoid the trouble buying the tickets on the day and wasting more time than I had to.
For those of you who didn't know about Fright Nights, there were at least 4 to 5 mazes which you could go into and explore with a maximum group of 10 people. You had to go in turns and wait for other people to get in before you do - which was probably the standard rule of all theme parks.
It was scary, thrilling, and fun - best way to celebrate my birthday. After the Fright Night, my friends and I went to the Timezone center in Surfers Paradise. It was a good way to spend the rest of the night just relaxing and maybe getting a bit competitive in some of the games. You definitely have to get to the bumper car ride in Timezone though, I had a great fun being bashed and bashing my friends; like I said, getting competitive in games.
The next day, we spent the final day having a barbecue with everyone and just spent the day relaxing and chatting with one another. Some of my friends went swimming but I didn't because I had to tend the barbecue - also just because I couldn't be bothered. There were definitely a lot of photo opportunities and you get to also watch the sunset whilst having dinner with your friends from the barbecue by the beach.
All in all, great experience, definitely recommend!
